It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 10/21/13

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA!
It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It's also a great chance to see what others are reading right now...you just might discover the next “must-read” book!
Kellee Moye, of Unleashing Readers, and I decided to give It's Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children's literature - picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit - join us! We love this meme and think you will, too. We encourage everyone who participates to visit at least three of the other kidlit book bloggers that link up and leave comments for them.

Announcements:

Happy National Day on Writing!
Yesterday was NCTE's Fifth Annual National Day on Writing but today you can still celebrate by tweeting all the ways that you use writing to make connections. Share your ideas with the hashtag #write2connect, and #dayonwriting if you have space. I'll be tweeting today and sharing how I connect by writing tomorrow for my Slice of Life post.

Peanut and I shared our love of graphic novels and all things reading over at Nerdy Book Club yesterday. We had so much fun reading people's tweets and comments! Thanks to everyone!

I'm giving away a copy of Carnivores by Aaron Reynolds and a Jamba Juice gift card!
Come tell me what you think about the book for your chance to win!
(I'll choose a winner next Sunday by random drawing.)

Last Week's Book Adventures:
Jen Says: This week I have been listening to Seraphina by Rachel Hartman. It's a long book so even though I listened to it all last week, I'll be listening to it still most of this week. I'm enjoying it and curious to see what happens next (I'm about halfway through). I've also been listening to The BFG again because every time my kids are in the car with me, they desperately want to listen to it. I'm so glad they are loving it! I adore Roald Dahl but am falling in love with him all over again listening to The BFG with my kids. I love how he plays with language and comes up with the wildest stories. Will need to review this and share my love of Roald Dahl!

At work, we're reading Deliverology 101 so I'm reading through that and I also finished The Common Core Grammar Toolkit by Sean Ruday. I started reading There Are No Children Here by Alex Kotlowitz and am also reading Wish by Beth Bracken and Kay Fraser. It was kind of a weird week of reading but I did get reading done, so...hooray!

Upcoming Book Adventures:
Jen Says: This week I'll continue listening to Seraphina and will continue reading Wish and There Are No Children Here. I keep telling myself I'm going to finish Volume 2 of my Archie Married Life comics but then I forget to grab it from my bookshelf at work...off to write myself a note to remember! Happy reading everyone! Enjoy the week!
