It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 11/19/12

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA!
It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It's also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…who knows, you might discover that next “must read” book!
After doing the meme for a couple of weeks, we realized this would be a fun meme to start up with a kidlit focus - anyone reading and reviewing books in children's literature - it can be picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, you name it in the world of kidlit and it's in! We have loved being a part of this meme and we hope you do too!  We encourage everyone participating to go and visit the other kidlit book bloggers that link up and to comment on as many posts as you can. We love talking books and believe in sharing and discussing what we're reading. We hope you join us!

Last Week's Book Adventures:
Jen Says: This has been a whilrwind of a week again! I blame it on NCTE! It was a hectic week getting ready for NCTE and then actually being at the conference. I did read Mira's Diary and Samantha Sutton. I'm still working on Audition and Subtraction and I also started What Came From the Stars. I'm enjoying them both and am looking forward to finishing them both up over the Thanksgiving holiday. I also finished listening to Eldest on audio and Code Name Verity on audio as well!

Kellee Says: Whirlwind is right! What an amazing week and it is still going. NCTE is like a family reunion and I love every second of it. As predicted, I haven't read much since I've gotten here, but I did get some reading done before and on the plane. I first read Year of the Beasts which is a fascinating multigenre book that mixes prose and graphic novel. I actually read it twice because once a connection was made, I had to reread it. On the plane I read the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid which is a great addition to the series. Finally, I read a really tough book that was pretty powerful called Life is But a Dream by Brian James.

Upcoming Book Adventures:
Jen Says: My plan is to recuperate from NCTE/ALAN by finishing up Audition and Subtraction and What Came From the Stars. And then I'm sure I'll be diving into one or two or a bunch of the goodies I picked up at NCTE and/or ALAN. I'll share more about what I did get and the entire NCTE fun on Sunday!

Kellee Says: I am still listening to Dark Life and am really enjoying it. I don't know what else I will read after NCTE, but we'll find out next Monday! Have a great reading week! :)

This Week's Reviews:
Duke Ellington: The Piano Prince and His Orchestra Sit-In: How Four Friends Stood Up by Sitting Down
