Library Thursday Blog Hop 3/24

It's already Thursday again!  That means it's time for Library Thursday hosted by Lazy Girl Reads!  I'm slowly returning the mounds of books I have checked out recently and tapering down the number of books I have checked out simply because I seem to have bought a few books recently and I have some on my Nook that I need to read.  (I did still have to move a giant bag of books from my backseat so I could have room for Peanut to sit...)

I always need audiobooks to listen to during my commute so I have to at least get to the library to pick up some of those!

My first pick was a book that I read when I was in middle school but that I've heard people talk about again and again lately.  It's definitely time for a reread just to refresh my mind.  Any guesses?  It's Judy Blume's Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. It seems like every young girl read this book and I even heard recently of someone who made all her sons read it to be able to relate to girls!  I'm not sure I want to force any book, least of all this book, on my sons, but I might as well reread it so I remember more clearly what it's all about.  It'll be the third book I've reread recently to just jog my memory and see what I think about it as an adult.  The other two were The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.

I'm excited to see everyone else's library finds this week!

 

Library Thursday Blog Hop 3/17

It's a St. Patrick's Day version of Library Thursday hosted by Lazy Girl Reads!  I vowed to keep myself from the library this week so I can actually read the books I already have checked out, the books I have bought, the books I have been given, and the books on my Nook!  I'm surrounded by books...which is a great thing...but I'm feeling like I'll never get through them!

I did have books on hold at the library that came in that I, of course, just HAD to pick up, and then a couple that were available to download onto my Nook, Henry.

I also made a trip to a library that's on my way home from home but isn't my actual library.  I love that my library is part of a district of libraries in the area.  AND I remembered to snap a picture!  This is Ela Library.  It has a self-checkout with some funky mechanism where all I had to do was lay my books down on a gray pad and it recognized the book.  I don't get how it works but it was very cool!

Library Thursday always gets me excited! I love my books, I love sharing books, and I love hearing what books others are reading.  Thanks again to Lazy Girl Reads for hosting!

Yesterday I loaded up on Kate DiCamillo books at my library because I'm doing an author study with one of my 3rd graders on the fabulous Ms. DiCamillo.  Yesterday we read the pages on her website and now we're going to preview and read parts of her books.

Then I wandered over to the non-fiction section because I'm working on identifying main idea and detail with a couple of my students.  One of my goals this year is to read more non-fiction so I'm trying!  I've found some really interesting books out there actually!!

Library Thursday Blog Hop 3/3

It's Thuuuuuuuuuuursday! I like when Thursday rolls around because I get to share my library books for the week and it's so close to Friday, and Friday means the weekend.  Library Thursday is like a warm-up for my reading weekend...even though I read all week...it's still fun!  Thanks again to Lazy Girl Reads for hosting! 

This week, we've been celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday!  On Saturday we went to a read aloud at Target.  At our library last night, Peanut watched the children's librarians do The Sneetches as reader's theater and then watched the cartoon of The Sneetches. He was so excited when I told him I had it at school and would bring it home to read with him.  We'll be borrowing The Sneetches from my classroom library!!!

I'm proud of myself for tapering down my library checkouts!  I just started Across the Universe by Beth Revis that I checked out last week and I'm loving it so far.  I also have three books on my NookColor, AKA Henry, from the library.

Library Thursday Blog Hop 2/24

I love Library Thursday!  I'm glad Lazy Girl Reads hosts this blog hop.  It's fun to be able to share what I've checked out from the library and to see what other people are reading.  I was able to restrain myself a little yesterday when I went.  I was focused.  I had three books on hold for me and then grabbed a Babymouse and Lulu and the Brontosaurus.  I was hoping to take a picture but I didn't end up going until after the baby was asleep so by then it was dark and it was snowing like crazy.  Hopefully next week I'll have a pic of my library!  Here are my books for the week:

 I'm so excited to read Across the Universe because I have heard so many great reviews from my Twitter friends.   

Today I'm also celebrating Library Lover's month (not like February is almost over or anything...).  I looked at some library shirts online but none of them were exciting to me so I decided to make my own! 

I painted it first and then embroidered little green beads around the middle heart. It's hard to tell.

I missed it somehow last week...it was a crazy week...but I'm back!

Honestly, I went to the library last night to load up on audiobooks because I am down to my last audiobooks.  I'm in the library though, and my fingers just itch to grab books I see that I have wanted to read!  I couldn't resist!  It might be a problem...thankfully, I don't have to pay for books at the library or my husband would not be happy with me!
