Every Tuesday, I participate in the Slice of Life challenge at Two Writing Teachers. If you want to participate, you can link up at their Slice of Life Story Post on Tuesdays or you can just head on over there to check out other people's stories. June was a busy month with lots of traveling for me. I had a blast in Boston, Indiana, and Atlanta with friends, having fun and learning at the same time. Last night, my plane landed a little after 9:00 p.m. and then I had to drive from O'Hare so the kids were both already in bed by the time I made it home.
This morning, I woke up and got dressed, hoping I could see Peanut and Little Bean before I was off to work for the day. Little Bean had migrated from his bed to the glider chair in the toy room. He was asleep as I tiptoed downstairs to gather my things. I was busy making sure I didn't forget anything for the day when I heard my husband whisper:
"Guess what? Mom's here."
There was a pause.
And then from Little Bean, an emphatic, "Yes!"
It was the best kind of welcome home.
