Happy NCTE day!

THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF TEACHERS OF ENGLISH (NCTE) ANNUAL CONFERENCE FOLLOWED BY THE ASSEMBLY ON LITERATURE FOR ADOLESCENTS (ALAN) WORKSHOP STARTS TODAY!

There are only a few days that I consistently look forward to yearly and there are only a couple that do not have to do with my family. Today is one of those days!!! Today I am lucky to be with my twitter family, my book buddies and my education associates for 6 days of sessions, books and authors where I get to immerse myself in the community that I am so lucky to be a part of. A community that helps me work towards being the best teacher I can be every day.

I cannot believe that it was only 2 years ago that I attended my first conference. I didn't know what I was missing until I was lucky enough to be sent to the conference by my principal. My professional life changed completely when I stepped foot onto Disney property in 2010 and walked into the 99th NCTE Annual Convention.

Last year, I was able to share my NCTE/ALAN adventure with you all (and Jen did too!) and I cannot wait to share this year's convention with you as well (as I'm sure Jen will too)!!

If you cannot join us at the convention, follow the convention on Twitter by using the hashtags
#NCTE12 and #ALAN12!
