Jen's Deep Thoughts on Rereading:
For the most part, I had similar revelations about rereading from previous weeks. I guess this week what stood out the most was that there were many details that I really didn't remember from the first reading. I had a general gist of the story but there were some parts that I had forgotten about. As I listened to True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi, I remembered vaguely what happened in the book because it had been sooooo long since I had first read it. I actually found myself surprised at the twist in the book. And then it all kind of came back to me.

With Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta I was rereading to remind myself of the story in order to read the second in the Lumatere Chronicles - Froi of the Exiles. I really had no idea who Froi of the Exiles was. I completely forgot. I needed the reminder by rereading, especially if he is the main character in the second book. Knowing I was waiting for Froi to show up in the book made me much more aware of his character - before I had somewhat overlooked him. Other characters I remembered, but not Froi. The exact same thing happened with Graceling, I had no idea that Bitterblue was in this book! And now she's going to have her own book. I honestly didn't pay that much attention to her before and had forgotten her completely but now I was so much more aware. When both Froi and Bitterblue appeared in the books I gasped with the realization. I love it.
