It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 01/30/2023

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA!

It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a weekly blog hop I co-host with Kellee and Ricki from Unleashing ReadersThe original IMWAYR, with an adult literature focus, was started by Sheila at Book Journeys and is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It's a great way to share what you're reading and get recommendations. We encourage you to write your own post sharing what you’re reading, link up below, leave a comment, and support other IMWAYR bloggers by visiting and commenting on at least three of the other linked blogs.

Last Week's Adventures:
Last week I didn’t do much reading. I read some of A Writer’s Notebook and my hold for Hands by Torrey Maldonado came in at the library.

This Week's Adventures:

I plan to read more of A Writer’s Notebook and to listen to Hands.

Last Week's Adventures:
Last week I finished re-listening to The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green because I met up to discuss with three of my friends who helped me get through the pandemic. It was lovely. I started listening to Unplug by Suze Yalof Schwartz and started reading Ralph Fletcher’s new and expanded A Writer’s Notebook: Unlocking the Writer Within You.

This Week's Adventures:

I’ll keep reading A Writer’s Notebook and will finish up Unplug. If I finish Unplug, I’m thinking I’d like to read The Willpower Instinct. I’m on the lookout for non-fiction to read with 8th graders this spring…either as a whole class read or book clubs. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

Last Week's Adventures:
I had a great time writing with a friend at the library. I looked through a stack of picture books and gathered up books for her to read as she’s exploring writing her own picture book. Three I pulled for her: Frog and Toad Are Friends, Charlie and Mouse, Bink and Gollie.

This Week's Adventures:

My new and updated copy of A Writer’s Notebook: New and Expanded Edition: Unlocking the Writer Within You by Ralph Fletcher came so I’m excited to read it and share it with students.

Last Week's Adventures:
I finished reading The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker. I am re-listening to The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green because I’m meeting with friends for a sort-of but not-really book club in a couple of weeks. It is a book that my heart really needed.

This Week's Adventures:

I’ll be listening to The Anthropocene Reviewed as I head back to school this week and then I’ll be reading lots of picture books because I’ll be doing a Mock Caldecott unit for the first time. I’m so excited! Have you done Mock Caldecott? Any advice for me?
